Airbus A340/A380 take off with Fortron from Ticona Fortron PPS has role
in airliner weight reduction
|
|
Aircraft Components For
modern airliners to fly long distances as efficiently as possible, we must look
for innovation in the materials of their construction. The airline industry seeks light
components to increase fuel efficiency while maintaining structural integrity. Such
demands have led to a shift from traditional building materials to engineered plastics
such as the fibre-reinforced composites based on the high- performance
polymer Fortron (polyphenylene sulphide/PPS) from Ticona. This material
will play a key role in the new Airbus series A340 and A380. Learn more....

Wood Protection - Celanese announces strategic partnership with Accsys Technologies for Innovative Use
of Acetyl Products
|
|
Wood Protection Innovation can sometimes be
as simple as a strategic partnership with a new user of our product.Celanese recently entered into a
strategic partnership with Accsys Technologies PLC, and its subsidiary Titan Wood, for application of
Celanese’s core acetyl products in Accsys’ proprietary AccoyaTM wood production process. Acetylated
wood increases hardness and does not compromise wood strength or natural beauty, allowing for applications
in consumer and industrial applications such as bridge construction, home deck construction and outdoor
furniture. Learn more...

Medical Devices: Small, silent and effective Pari chooses
Hostaform® MT® for its
new electronic nebuliser
|
|
Medical Devices The field of medicine is constantly
in need of innovative materials solutions. When PARI GmbH developed their eFlow electronic nebulizer
for cystic fibrosis therapy, the demands on its construction material were high. The device requires
high-temperature sterilization, is constantly under mechanical stress and contains very small components
requiring a material that can be formed with very high precision. These constraints led PARI to chose
Hostaform MT from Ticona as their construction material.

Alternative Fuels - Ticona Introduces First Engineering Thermoplastic Fuel Cell.
|
|
Alternative Fuels When producing an
alternative fuel, cost of production compared to conventional fuels is a Natural concern. An
example of how Celanese innovation is seeking to address this is the use of Vectra® LCP and Fortron®
PPS in fuel cells. Ticona, the Celanese engineering plastics division, has released a prototype
of the first ever alternative fuel cell constructed entirely of thermoplastics. This will cut fuel cell
production costs by 50% compared to traditional metal construction., accelerating the fuel cell industry.

Oilfield Fluid Loss Prevention - One
challenge faced by
the oil industry is maintaining the structural integrity of the well while crude oil is being

|
Oilfield Fluid Loss Prevention One
challenge faced by
the oil industry is maintaining the structural integrity of the well while crude oil is being
removed. This is done by lining the well with a compound that essentially prevents
the well from caving in on itself. This ‘cement’ must endure a wide range of temperatures
and pressures and must be both environmentally and economically viable. The Celanese
Premiol line of products hasbeen proven perfect for this application. Learn more...
