Celanese recognizes that counterfeiting is a serious problem to the worldwide cigarette industry. It is the policy of Celanese to prohibit the sale of acetate tow to customers or third parties with any knowledge or belief that such acetate tow will be used in the manufacture of counterfeit cigarettes.

Celanese uses its best efforts to confirm that all its acetate tow customers are neither using nor intending to use acetate tow in the manufacture, sale and distribution of counterfeit cigarettes or other products. Such efforts include:

• Celanese uses reasonable due diligence to confirm that a prospective customer is a legitimate business entity and intends to use the acetate tow for legitimate purposes.
• Celanese uses its best efforts to confirm that existing customers are not engaged, directly or indirectly, in the manufacture, sale or distribution of counterfeit cigarettes.
• Celanese makes appropriate inquiries to confirm that the quantity of any acetate tow product ordered by a customer is a reasonable amount for the scale of such customer’s business.

Celanese does not knowingly accept orders from any person or firm which has been convicted of engaging in the manufacture, sale or distribution of counterfeit cigarettes or which is otherwise shown through verifiable evidence that such customer, person or firm is engaged in the manufacture, sale or distribution of counterfeit cigarettes.
