Curriculum Vitae In addition to his role as CFO, Mr. Sterin is president of Celanese’s Advanced Fuel Technologies (AFT) business with the responsibility of capitalizing on the company’s differentiated manufacturing process, called TCX™, and expanding into the fuel ethanol business. Celanese TCX™ is the company’s proprietary advanced technology process for the production of ethanol from hydrocarbon feedstocks. Mr. Sterin became controller in 2005 and led the implementation and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations, the transition of all corporate accounting functions to the company’s new headquarters in Dallas from New Jersey and Germany, and the implementation of a five-day monthly close. He also oversaw more than $1 billion in secondary offerings from private equity ownership, including the largest secondary offering in chemical industry history. Mr. Sterin joined Celanese in April 2003 as director of finance and controller for the company’s Chemicals business, which accounted for nearly $4 billion of corporate revenue. As such, he was responsible for all reporting, controlling, financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting and decision support for the business unit’s commodity and specialty businesses. Prior to Celanese, Mr. Sterin worked for Reichhold, Inc., a global chemicals company, in a variety of financial positions. He joined Reichhold, Inc., in 1997 and his tenure included positions as director of tax & treasury in the Netherlands, global treasurer and vice president of finance for one of the company’s divisions in North Carolina. His career also includes tenure at Price Waterhouse, LLP, as a tax consultant. Mr. Sterin holds a master’s degree in professional accounting and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting, which he earned concurrently at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1995. He is also a certified public accountant in Texas.
